The weekend's events will offer an array of opportunities to amp up your Hawkeye Pride and connect with your student's experience on campus. We are so excited to have you back on campus - Go Hawks!   1. Take exit #244 and turn south on Dubuque Street
  2. Follow Dubuque Street south to Market Street
  3. Turn right onto Market Street

  6. Follow Madison Street to Jefferson Street
  7. Turn right to enter the Iowa Memorial Union parking area

From US 6:

  1. Follow US 6 to Iowa Avenue
  2. Turn east onto Iowa Avenue
  3. Follow Iowa Avenue to Madison Street

Parking

  • Iowa Memorial Union Ramp on Madison Street across from the IMU.

  • North Hall Ramp on Madison Street north of the IMU.

  • Metered street parking is also available around the Iowa Memorial Union and downtown Iowa City

  • Football Parking (Please note: traffic around Kinnick Stadium is very congested and parking is limited. We suggest parking in the Hancher Auditorium parking lot and using the free football charter bus to the stadium. Bus service starts 9 a.m.)

Transportation

The University of Iowa CAMBUS provides free transportation around campus. Check out more information about CAMBUS here.

In addition to CAMBUS' free service, there is also transit available through the City of Iowa City. Visit Iowa City Transit for a list of prices and routes to navigate to and from campus, and around the Iowa City and Coralville area.

Where can I stay? 

If you would like to explore lodging options, you can call the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau at 319-337-6592 or 800-283-6592 or visit their website (https://www.thinkiowacity.com/places-to-stay/hotels/) and click on their lodging page for updated information regarding hotel availability. Some Iowa City and Coralville hotels require a two-night stay on football weekends, and the room rates are typically higher than on non-football game weekends.

Register for UI Family Weekend by Wednesday, September 1, 2021 for a chance to win a two-night stay at the Iowa House Hotel located on campus at the Iowa Memorial Union. This stay includes a suite that sleeps up to 6 guests, free parking, continental breakfast, and access to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC). A winner will be drawn at random and notified by Friday, September 3, 2021.

Iowa Hawkeye Football Game

Iowa Hawkeye Football plays Nevada at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, September 17th during UI Family Weekend. The football game is not an official Family Weekend event; therefore, football tickets are not included with my Family Weekend registration. To purchase tickets for the football game, visit Iowa Athletics Ticket Office or call 1-800-IA-HAWKS or 319-335-9323.

Nile Kinnick Gameday Tradition/Hawkeye Football Team Welcome

Before entering Kinnick Stadium each game, the Hawkeye Football Team passes a 20-foot tall statue of Nile Kinnick, the team’s 1939 (and only) Heisman winner, outside the stadium, touching the helmet at the base of the statue’s feet. Approximately 3 1/2 to 4 hours prior to game time, buses arrive at the stadium, and Hawkeye football players and coaches touch the 20-foot statue of Nile Kinnick before going through the team entrance.
